In Place of Dreary Patterns

My radio show IN PLACE OF DREARY PATTERNS airs on KAOS 89.3 FM, Olympia, Washington’s community radio station,  Thursday nights at 11:00 PM until 1:00 AM in the morning.  If you don’t live in Olympia, you can stream it online at kaosradio.org without much real trouble.

I play a mix of mind-expanding electronic music including ambient, industrial, chillout, avant garde and surrealism.  I try to make it all flow as a complete experience and to be unified in mood, somehow.  That mood can change from show to show.  To give you an idea of the kind of thing I play, he’s some playlists I’ve recently started uploading.

I play a longer (usually about 20 minute) track at the end of every show.  I’ve played everything from Current 93’s “Imperium” suite to a 30 minute Robert Rich ambient sound world from his reissue of early material “Trances and Drones” to 20 minutes of John Cage telling minute long short stories over avant garde noise (that’s “Indeteminacy”, if you don’t know).
