2008/09/03 - Revelation Season: Radioactive Daydreams
Radioactive Daydreams is one of my most tuneful, warm and human pieces of work, featuring the vocal layering that dominates its sequel Undressing the Death presented in a more digestible package, as well as some more rock-oriented guitar playing at times. Its theme is one of sparkling, shimmering nocturnal purity, and thus the mix is spacious and sparse. Its relation to the Undressing the Death has diminished since both were originally conceived, but there are still important parallels. “Fades Into Aum”, for example, from Undressing the Death, is the companion piece to “Floods Into Aurora” from Radioactive Daydreams, sharing several main melodies. “Fades Into Aum” and “Crystalline Red” share an ending. There’s more detail to notice if you’re paying attention.
